& the magnetic jesus

Formed sometime in 1990 by musicians who worked at a record shop, Magnetic Jesus was an angry dog barking at an industry filled with hair bands and pretentious alt rock poseurs. Its missions was simple: have fun.

In its original lineup, Magnetic Jesus was

Mike Colucci: Lead Guitar
Richard Cranch: Rhythm Guitar
Christopher Davis: Bass Guitar
Glen Naessens: Lead Vocals
Chris Scheur: Drums

Launched during a battle-of-the-bands September 14, 1990 at the Ambler Cabaret (with a performance of "If Animals Could Pray" [shown at left]), Magnetic Jesus went on to play gigs throughout the Philadelphia area, experienced a number of personnel changes, and eventually reformed as Perch under the direction of vocalist Glen Naessens.

Perch were seen on MTV's Real World (LA, second season) and in the movie Reality Bites. A compilation of Perch songs and recordings from Magnetic Jesus' second studio session is available on amazon.com. Richard Cranch moved to California, became Brian Wilson, and continues to play and perform (www.myspace.com/richardcranch). Glen Naessens and Chris Davis have since collaborated on a screenplay.
